A strategic advisor to startups and scaling businesses, Roopa Kumar is a tech evangelist, mentor, and investor; and dons the Founder & Group CEO cape at Purple Quarter — a globally based Bespoke CTO Search Firm

“My career has largely focused on technology, with specific expertise in operational excellence & tech leadership.”

Sensing the teeming tech leadership gap across fast-growing companies early on, Roopa founded Purple Quarter in 2017. She has since been instrumental in developing the scientifically-deduced — Behavorial Metrics Model (BMM), an 83+ parameters-driven approach to identify the right leadership type for diverse companies. As a hands-on Founder CEO, Roopa has successfully built high-functioning, client-centric teams and in six years driven the company’s manifold growth and global presence. Under her guard, Purple Quarter took home the ‘Best Executive Search firm’ by Times Ascent and ‘Professional Service Startup of the Year (HR)’ by Entrepreneur.

Roopa’s passion for technology spawned two IP initiatives at Purple Quarter – The Tech Factor – a Podcast and CTO Circle. The Tech Factor is an in-house Tech talk show where Roopa hosts seasoned tech visionaries and industry leaders with cutting-edge technology advancements in their respective fields. While, CTO Circle is an exclusive community of tech visionaries to exchange ideas, challenge existing concepts and look for innovative ways of solving tech challenges.

Beyond Purple Quarter, Roopa actively engages in meaningful interactions with industry stakeholders. This has led to her sharing insights on credible panels at Forbes 30 under 30, YourStory Techsparks, ET HR Summit and more. Further, Forbes, TechCrunch, Fortune, ET and Entrepreneurial India have published editorials with her leadership commentary.

Her achievements have recently been recognized by ET Ascent in its Business Leader of the Year Awards, 2023 where she was recognized as ‘Business Woman of the Year’.

Roopa Kumar continues to be a mindful investor picking on potential opportunities early on. Through Purple Quarter, she has led several investments in startups; some recent ones include Amar Nagaram’s (Ex-Myntra CEO) e-commerce venture, Virgio and integrated export solutions technology start-up, Expora. Open to startup investments globally, she is on a mission to find business ideas that she strongly resonates with.
