Currently, retailers outsource order tracking functionality to carriers, resulting in lost marketing opportunities as well as lost visibility into shipment data. With Narvar, retailers can provide branded and engaging tracking experiences across all carriers. Additionally, retailers are given the ability to drive more traffic to their websites through cross-merchandising and personalized offers.
Problem Statement
The early days of ecommerce focused on new customer acquisition; today’s competitive landscape demands retailers evolve their strategy regarding customer engagement, retention, and loyalty.
To foster its growth journey, Narvar was looking for a Head of Engineering to lead its India team and architect solutions by mapping customers’ business problems, scaling their tech org structure, and functioning as a trusted technical advisor that collaborates with business and technical stakeholders.
Solution and Execution
Narvar was in search of a Head of Engineering and Site Lead, but after analyzing the technical expertise, experience, and business criticality of the role, we consulted them to onboard a VP of Engineering who could bring more maturity to the table. We’ve also assisted both the client and the candidate in settling the compensation structure.
Using our proprietary Behavioral Metrics Model (BMM), Shamik Datta was identified for Narvar’s search for a data-driven and results-oriented leader. His leadership personality reflected the Nurturer type – who is responsible for scaling, building, and growing the present platform by plumbing the existing architecture with newer additions and innovations.
He is an expert in tech infrastructure, team management, and more, thanks to his previous significant stints at Myntra, Omio, and Freescale Semiconductor. He also co-founded two companies, a testament to his entrepreneurial skills. His global exposure made him an ideal choice for the role.
Looking Forward
Narvar’s vision to drive innovation in the ecommerce space and the enthusiasm of the leadership team encouraged Shamik to join the company. As the VP of Engineering and Site Lead, Shamik manages the team and organizational operations. He is also a technical advisor who collaborates with both business and technical stakeholders.
